We are always looking on ways to improve our herd. A bull is one of the quickest ways to improve your herd. We like to keep a home grown bull calf back, but we are always on the look-out for the "perfect" bull. Pictured on this page are some young bulls that we think will improve our herd. We will watch these bulls grown. We think these guys have alot of potential.
Sugar Cain we think, will make a great herd sire. He is a year old in the pictures above. He was born March 3, 2007 so we may put him with a few females to give him a test run. He measured 31-32 inches tall at a year. He is out of the same cow as Bullwinkle and his sire is Freckles. He was bottle fed and is halter broke. He has a good disposition. His colored points are brindle. He also has black and brown spots on his body. We would really like to get more spotted-brindles. This guy should throw nothing but colored calves. Look for his calves in 2009. Below are pictures taken at almost 16 months old. He is starting to fill out and "bull" up. We have him in with about 10 cows. Hopefully he gets the job done. Last year our yearling bull bred cows for us, Sugar Cain is a little smaller but more masculine.
Rip Roar is a double-bred Ripley grandson. We do not want all our cattle to have this color pattern but it is the quickest way to break up solid colored cows. Plus we loved Ripley so putting his blood back in the herd is another bonus. He also has a very masculine frame for his age; heavy muscling and loose skin. He was born in August 2007 so he may not see any girl friends until 2009, just have so see how he matures this summer. His sire, White Out, bred cows as a yearling.
